zodiac compatibility

for the record, i'm not a superstitious person. but i see no harm if pple believe in whatever they wanna believe - so long as they don't impose their views or values on me, i'm cool. reason i'm saying this is bcos i'm about to cough up some uh... chinese zodiac compatibility crap. i've got a colleague at work who's really into such stuff. naturally i was 1 of those he victimised with his zodiac mambo jumbo. it's quite interesting though so yeah, decided that it was worth a mention and some airtime.

firstly, there are 12 signs in the chinese zodiac. they are, in their sequence of order: 子rat, 丑cow, 寅tiger, 卯rabbit, 辰dragon, 巳snake, 午horse, 未goat, 申monkey, 酉rooster, 戌dog, 亥pig. don't ask me why it's 亥 instead of 猪 and so on, i wasn't paying attention to the chinese characters. using the cheena lunar calender as the reference point, one's sign is determined by the year one is born in. so for me, i'm a fiery dragon. see me spout flames. :D next, comes the calculations. i shall not even try to understand how to compute this. let's just pretend that i do ok? *pretends to be in deep concentration and doing the finger count thing. abracadabra! this is what the compatibility chart looks like:

good compatibility
子丑合化土 | rat-cow
寅亥合化木 | tiger-pig
卯戌合化火 | rabbit-dog
辰酉合化金 | dragon-rooster
巳申合化水 | snake-monkey
午未為陰陽中正合化土 | horse-goat

in conflict
子午相沖 | rat-horse
丑未相沖 | cow-goat
寅申相沖 | tiger-monkey
卯酉相沖 | rabbit-rooster
辰戌相沖 | dragon-dog
巳亥相沖 | snake-pig

based on this, it means that i'm highly compatible with someone of the rooster sign while at odds with a dog. hmm, now that i'm thinking of it, it's pretty accurate leh. i get on really well with my dad (who is a rooster) and there's this particular cousin whom i really can't stand the sight of. no prizes for guessing what sign she is of. on further reflection, it's not just my cuz man, i had this bitchy ex-colleague whom my fren n me totally destested (we're both dragons btw) and hey hey, she's a bitch! (in the literal sense too) it's really too much of a coincidence. which got me thinking hard. this would mean that i should be on the prowl for a rooster! as we would be the most compatible and he would most likely be an ideal partner!

hear ye hear ye. roosters, pls send in your applications forms. you will be placed in the highest priority. lol.

hey do share if this compatibility thingy kinda holds true for you too.

pa-sar and accessories

i'm up early this morning. not because i wanted to. i crashed big time on the couch last night when i got back and eh to my horror of horrors, i slept all the way till this morning without bathing and brushing my teeth. yeah so terrible dirty. yucky yucks. but well yeah, that just goes to show how freaking exhausted i am from this hectic week (mentioned in previous post). sigh. let's not go there.

so anyway, since i was already up and my mum's a perpetual early bird, she dragged my lazy ass off to the market for an early breakfast at 7. ok so 7's not really that early since i'm normally up by then to doll up for work. but then again, we're talking about a weekend here! weekends are meant for lazing in bed, well according to carren. so yah, i've digressed. was supposed to yak about these interesting cool buys i got from the pa-sar. check them out:

1. slap on brown watch, damage: 5 bucks
yes, like the names suggests, all you've gotta do is to slap it onto your hand and wahla, it'll automatically curl up and cling on. good for casual day wear or when i hit the gym.

2. flower-loop-pin (left), damage: 5 bucks

it seems like forever that i've been lamenting that i'm utterly bored with my hairstyle. i either leave it as it is, tie it into a ponytail, do a half-tie half let-down with a clip or try in vain to bun it all together. so sian right. ya but now at least i can jazz things up with this nifty little loop pin. all you've got to do is to poke it into a bunched clump of hair, twist it up then twirl it down. and you'll have a cute little flower in your hair. hah.

3. double teeth comb flower pin (right), damage: 8 bucks

eh, i've gotta admit that this looks kinda 'aunty' but hey i think i can pull it off without looking the least bit aunty-ish. this is a little trickier to use but it can also be used for a variety of styles --- over bunned up hair (easiest to do) and for both full or half ponytails.

kinda interesting for pa-sar stuff yah? damage wasn't too bad too. i'm gonna be spotting a couple of new hairlooks for the coming week liao. yippie yay.

work woes

it's been a terribly busy week at work, thereby explaining the lack of posts. it's really, really bad. have been bringing home stuff to clear as the backlog is beginning to pile up at a totally ridiculous rate. i'm beyond drowning. i have definitely drowned so now it's more like sinking to the rock bottom of the seabed instead. gonna hit it hard anytime soon man at this rate i'm going. blah. why so bad i hear you ask. it's the nature of being in the events line i reckon. and it really doesn't help when everybody wants a part of you, or rather everybody simply and conveniently flicks things over to you. and being at the lowest runks of the corporate food chain, that means you get piled with all the tedious shit to do and follow-up on. it seems like there are too many balls in the air to juggle at one go. sometimes, i don't even know where to begin! and yeah, i'm so bloody afraid that i might just drop some balls soon simply because it's too overhelming!

oh, did i mention that i'm just about 3 months plus into this job? seems like everybody has also conveninently forgotten about that too. madness. sheer madness. last time when things were relatively easier going (note, the keyword here is 'relatively' - it takes a robot to be immune to hearing customers' endless complaints), i was complaining that there wasn't much of a challenge. and now when there's really a challenge, i'm again complaining that there's way too much work to do. shit. i seriously sound like i don't know what i want. and it scares me that that's a pretty apt description.

the phantom of the opera

i wanna go watch the phantom of the opera. heard so much about it. thanks to my stupid gf who kept on bragging about how stupendously awesome it was. and how great her darling was to surprise her with tickets to the musical. shit. in cases like this, i freaking wish i had a bf to leech on too. blah. let's not go there k. it'll just unleash the floodgate of carren's 'bf-less' rants.

so anyway, i really really love the song 'all i ask of you' from the phantom. everytime i hear it, it'll just give me the chills. i reckon that if any guy were to seranade me with that song, i'll turn putty in his hands anytime. opps. too much disclosure again :x sigh, what a sucker i am for such things.

since nice things ought to be shared, i've decided to post the lyrics and song on my blog then. enjoy la!

all i ask of you

Raoul:
No more talk of darkness,

forget these wide-eyed fears;

I'm here, nothing can harm you,

my words will warm and calm you.

Let me be your freedom,

let daylight dry your tears;

I'm here, with you, beside you,

to guard you and to guide you.

Christine:
Say you'll love me ev'ry waking moment;

turn my head with talk of summertime.

Say you need me with you now and always;
promise me that all you say is true,

that's all I ask of you.

Raoul:
Let me be your shelter,
let me be your light;
you're safe, no one will find you,

your fears are far behind you.

Christine:
All I want is freedom,
a world with no more night;
and you, always beside me,
to hold me and to hide me.

Raoul:
Then say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime;
let me lead you from your solitude.
Say you need me with you, here beside you,
anywhere you go, let me go too,
christine, that's all I ask of you.

Christine:
Say you'll share with me one love, one lifetime.
Say the word and I will follow you.
Share each day with me, each night, each morning.
Say you love me...

Raoul:
You know I do.

Together:
Love me, that's all I ask of you.

Anywhere you go let me go too

Love me... that's all I ask of you.

hmm, i hope i'll not get caught for a copyright violation man. after all, i'm doing a free advertisement for them right? so folks, go watch the show k while it's still running. god knows when it'll be back again.
